Nancy Barone

Barone_NancyChief Operating Officer

Nancy Barone was named Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for University of Cincinnati Medical Center (UCMC) in 2010, and added Daniel Drake Center for Post-Acute Care to her role in 2012.

In addition to maintaining executive oversight of Daniel Drake Center,  Barone has operational oversight of several UCMC hospital-based clinical areas, including the University of Cincinnati Cancer Institute, the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute, Ambulatory Services, Operative Services, Psychiatric Services, Social Work, Transplant Services and Women’s Health. She also oversees several business units within the hospital, including Design & Construction and Food & Nutrition services.

Before joining UC Health, Barone served at a former affiliate as both Chief Executive Officer and Senior Vice President. She earned her Doctorate in Education from Northern Kentucky University, Master of Business Administration from Thomas More College, and Master of Nursing Science from Bellarmine University. She is a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives and has been a recipient of multiple awards including Woman of the Year by the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Debra C. Hampton

Hampton_DebraVice President Administration/Chief Nursing Officer, Senior Site Executive

Debra Hampton has proven to be a valuable member of the senior leadership team since joining Daniel Drake Center in January 2011. With more than 35 years as a clinician and administrator, she most recently was the Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer at Pikeville Medical Center in Kentucky. There, she successfully implemented many quality and patient satisfaction initiatives, including reductions in skin breakdown, falls and errors. She also held numerous leadership positions at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, including Director of Nursing.

In addition to serving at Daniel Drake Center, Hampton is a part-time instructor at the University of Kentucky. She has written for numerous nursing publications and is a member of many professional organizations. Hampton received her bachelor’s in nursing from Eastern Kentucky University and her master’s in nursing and PhD from the University of Cincinnati. She is a certified nurse executive.

John Deledda, MD

Deledda_JohnVice President, Medical Affairs

John Deledda, MD, is Vice President Medical Affairs for both University of Cincinnati Medical Center and Daniel Drake Center.  He has been on the faculty of the Department of Emergency Medicine in the University of Cincinnati’s College of Medicine as an Associate Professor since completion of his residency in 2003. He served as Associate Medical Director of the Center of Emergency Care at the UC Medical Center out of residency, and in May 2005, was promoted to Medical Director. He is also Past Chief of Staff at UC Medical Center, and serves on multiple local, hospital, and departmental committees.

Dr. Deledda received a BS in Biology from the University of Michigan in 1995 where he graduated with High Distinction. In 1999, he graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School. He attended the University of Cincinnati’s College of Medicine Residency Program for Emergency Medicine serving as Chief Resident in 2002-2003.

Keith Gilles

Keith Gilles brings extensive leadership experience to Daniel Drake Center including:   five years as a Senior Vice President at both a 600-bed hospital in Florida and at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas, Kentucky; eight years as director of Healthcare Economic Strategies for Medtronics;  eight years as Executive Director of Cardiology Associates in Edgewood, Kentucky; and most recently as Administrative Director of the University of Cincinnati Cancer Institute. He has been aacknowledged as an experienced and innovative leader with proven success in cost savings and teambuilding, resulting in quality programming and services.

Gilles holds a Bachelor of Science degree and MHA in health care administration from the University of Florida. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.


Duane J. Pifko

Pifko_DuaneDivision Director of Finance

Duane J. Pifko has worked in healthcare finance for almost 30 years, including 15 years in senior leadership positions. He has extensive experience in both the not-for-profit and for-profit healthcare settings, including at short-and long-term acute care hospitals, rehabilitation facilities and skilled nursing units. He joined Drake Center in 2010, bringing with him a proven record of effective financial management, successful contract negotiations and cost containment and revenue enhancement programs.

Duane’s expertise includes strategic financial planning, healthcare reimbursement, budgeting and leading organizations to stronger, more competitive market positions. In his role as Division Director of Finance, Duane provides leadership for Drake Center finances and oversees throughput at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Daphne Glenn

Glenn_DaphneExecutive Director, Bridgeway Pointe Assisted Living & Administrator, Skilled Nursing Facility

Daphne Glenn has a history with Drake Center having served from 1994 to 1999 as a physical therapist and as a manager of outpatient services. She moved to London, England where she worked for the National Health Service in a managerial capacity with medical and emergency departments of two hospitals. She returned to Daniel Drake Center as Executive Director at Bridgeway Pointe Assisted Living in 2008, and added an additional role in 2013 when she became Administrator of Drake’s skilled nursing unit. Glenn has an MBA and MHSA (master of health service administration) from Xavier University and a master of physical therapy from Emory University, Atlanta. She is certified as a Nursing Home Administrator for long-term care in the State of Ohio.

Melissa Bennett

Melissa Bennett has 20 years’ experience as a health care nursing executive in long- term acute care, skilled nursing care, health care insurance, and as a clinical instructor and staff RN. Bennett has a BSN and MSN from Ohio State University, and most recently completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Wright State University. Bennett is responsible for the long-term acute care nursing units at Daniel Drake Center, as well as additional clinical services responsibilities including wound care. Her focus is on providing excellent care and service to our patients and residents.

Brenda Ziegler

Ziegler_BrendaAdministrative Director

Brenda Ziegler brings extensive expertise to her role at UC Health with more than 25 years in health care across the spectrum of hospital and physician practice operations, strategic planning, business and program development, physician relations and recruitment, organizational effectiveness, process improvement and project management. She has served in multiple leadership positions within UC Health and the Health Alliance (predecessor to UC Health) including Administrative Director for the Barrett Cancer Center, Director of Strategic Development for Alliance Primary Care, and Director of Physician Services for The St. Luke Hospitals. She is currently responsible for the Daniel Drake Center long-term acute care unit at The Christ Hospital. Her experience outside of UC Health includes Director of Operations and Business Development for Kentucky Cardiovascular Group and Senior Director for the Global Project Management Office of Kendle International.

Mary Beth Puryear

Puryear_MaryBethManager, Public Relations & Marketing

Mary Beth Puryear has 20 years’ experience in health care marketing and public relations including the areas of internal communications, crisis communications, publications, media relations and events. She has held various positions including Senior Consultant for The Christ Hospital, Manager of Corporate Communications for Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati (predecessor to UC Health), and Senior Consultant at Daniel Drake Center. Prior to health care, Puryear worked as an advertising manager in educational publishing. She holds a communications degree from the College of Mt. St. Joseph.

Andrea Carson

Carson_AndreaManager, Human Resources

Andrea Carson has been with UC Health since 2005. She started her career as an HR Assistant at University of Cincinnati Medical Center in 2005, and advanced through the UC Health system as an HR Coordinator for St. Luke Hospitals and an HR Generalist for West Chester Hospital where she designed recruitment, on-boarding and training for more than 500 new hires to staff the new West Chester Hospital. She was promoted to Manager of Human Resources at Daniel Drake Center in May 2013. Carson has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Speech Communications, and is PHR certified.

Patricia Adkins

Patricia AdkinsDirector of Clinical Services, Long Term Acute Care Unit at The Christ Hospital

Patricia Adkins is the Director of Clinical Services at the long-term acute care unit at The Christ Hospital. In her role, Pat will oversee day-to-day operations of the LTAC at Christ Hospital. Pat was the former Critical Care Nurse Educator (2007-2008) and Director, Patient Care Services (2008-2010) at Daniel Drake Center. After leaving Daniel Drake, Pat became the Clinical Director at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Barrett Cancer Center before returning to Daniel Drake Center.
